First, let me say that whoever relied on just the velcro and then whined about the kitty sill falling down, was incredibly naive and impractical. I mean, velcro?? It's a gimmick that they threw in there just to say that there are "two ways" of attaching it, but realistically, I wouldn't trust velcro to hold my cat's big bottom on that thing. Second, all the people complaining that the legs didn't fit or fell off - you were attaching them the wrong way, or not all the way. They need to snap into place, facing the right direction, and by snap into place I mean actually snap. That isn't easy if you're only using your hands, unfortunately, but don't give up until you hear that snap. I used a mallet to beat down on them, but yeah, eventually they did snap into place, and from that point on it would take more than a cat to get them off. Once you have attached the legs correctly and all the way to the snap, you drill the thing into the window sill and rest easy. Despite the fact that it's not a solid piece of plastic but a mesh frame, it's actually quite sturdy. The cover slips on and off easily, including after you've screwed the board to the window sill. The foam gives off a very strong smell, but that airs out pretty quickly. It took my vertically insecure cat 10 days to grow the cojones to try it, but one fine morning she finally did, and on that day she did not come down from it until dinner time. UPDATE: We've had this kitty sill for 3 years now, and it's still in great shape! I don't see any sagging or signs of wear at all. We haven't had any problems with it falling or anything else, ever. Even the foam layer hasn't compressed or anything! The cat absolutely loves that thing, and spends most of the day sleeping on it or looking out. My only complaint is that the material of the slip cover is such that it gets embedded with hair and is hard to clean, but even that's not a big deal. Overall I've been extremely happy with this kitty sill - it's very durable, it looks nice, and the cat loves it! I disagree with the 1-star reviews and would definitely recommend it! UPDATE #2: It has now been 7 years and 2 kids later (wow!) and the kitty sill is still holding strong! My kids are 4 and 2 years old and despite all my warnings, keep occasionally hanging off or climbing onto the kitty sill, but it hasn't fallen off yet! The main structure is intact, but the padding and the cover have gone to sh**. I replaced the padding easily with a piece of foam I had lying around from something else. The cover, however... How can this company not sell replacement covers?!?!? Do they expect you to buy a whole new kitty sill when the cover inevitably wears down? After 7 years our cover has been worn through, and the elastic is stretched out too wide, so the cover doesn't even stay on anymore. It's a sorry sight. I keep thinking I should make a new cover myself, but why should I have to? Shame on this company for not providing replacement covers! I still love the product itself, and so does our cat (and kids), but the cover situation is frustrating.

This window perch took all of 10 minutes to install (most of that was changing drill bit to screw on my power drill). It fit perfectly on my window sill & rests lightly against the wall. The 3 screws seem long enough & hold very firmly into the wood sill. The perch's "mattress" & cover are thick & soft, & I'm glad the cover is removable because after one week, it's already covered in fur. My 3 cats are IN LOVE WITH THIS!!! This particular window was always their favourite spot, & now they can lounge in comfort & style. Three small cats, about 12lbs each, all curled up together, & it holds them fine. Fantastic investment for our feline babies' happiness.

This is a replacement for my previous window perch. Very easy to put up. I definitely recommend using the screws. I don't think that the Velcro alone will hold it. I like the cushioned, supported base. My other one was just a soft cover which led to major drooping. I have a 12 LB cat and a 6 LB cat. When they're in a good mood they both sit on it together.

We have had 3 of these sills for about 6 months now, and they are the most popular sleeping spot in the house. Our lazy cat spends nearly all his time sleeping or watching birds on his favorite sill. We have had up to 22 lbs of cat on a single shelf (3 cats together), and they have not collapsed. We did screw them in rather than Velcro-ing, so I can't speak to how well that works. The covers are very easy to remove and toss in the washing machine. We find it necessary to do this about twice a month, since the fabric they are made of collects cat hair better than a lint roller. This is, in my opinion, an added bonus, since it reduces the amount of hair that ends up on the floor and the furniture. Our lazy cat gets very depressed during the 2 hours it takes for the covers to come back from the laundry. We installed one of the sills right next to the dining room table, and the guys are much less of a nuisance on the table now that they have somewhere more interesting to hang out. These sills also seem to be something of a "safe space" for everyone. They were the first place that the big cats felt comfortable enough to let the new kittens snuggle with them. Our lazy cat is terrified of strangers, but he will sometimes let a guest pet him for a minute if he is in his favorite spot. The remainder of this review will be told in adorable pictures. Please enjoy. P. S. - Our lazy cat is the big tuxedo who appears in every group shot. P. P. S. - Please forgive him for being so lazy, as he has a congenital heart defect.

The Kitty Sill came today! The shipping was fast and it was a breeze to install. As you can see from one of the pictures I posted, I have a small sill, but it was plenty for the screws to grab onto. Carlos is in heaven! For those that wonder about the weight, he is 16.5 lbs. Carlos and myself are very please with the kitty sill!

I've had this a few days now & my cat absolutely loves it! I got it because the house I was moving to has higher windows. She loves watching the birds & relaxing on it. Very sturdy!

fits well in our bonus room and kitty loves it. The velcro doesn't seem to last or gives way especially since the sun is on it during the day. Didn't want to but will have to screw this perch into the windowsill. Still giving 5 stars though because we and kitty are happy with it.

Using info from past reviews, (I decided not relying on the Velcro and not to use screws), I made a more permanent mount for the Kitty Sill. I cut a piece of aluminum angle and bolted it to the bottom of the stand where the window sill attach screws would have gone. The mount slips over the top of the inside window lip (vinyl windows) and holds the Kitty Sill in place - window can be opened or closed. My mount system provides a way to move the perch from one window to another without leaving behind the unsightly Velcro. The legs rest against the inside wall just as they are supposed to. The heating pad was plugged in and got warm (not hot) in a few minutes, just enough to keep our cat comfortable. The cat took a few minutes to "warm up" to it, but she loves it now. The Kitty Sill is fairly sturdy and supports our 9 lb cat quite well. We have another cat that weighs 13 lbs. and I am sure it would support that cat no problem. A very nice product. The mount I made is 4 X 11 1/2" X 1 1/2", 1/8" thick from aluminum angle. I measured the window components and made the mount from extra metals bits I had laying around the garage. Drilled three holes for #6 screws and countersunk the holes with a larger drill bit. The holes are countersunk to protect the window sill. I then sandwiched some aluminum scrap material together to make the gap, then added the back plate. Drilled all that these while clamped together. Again, countersunk the holes (to keep things flush for closing the window) on the outside and riveted it all together. Took about an hour or so. A similar thing could be done with a standard, wood window frame. Flip the aluminum angle around, cut the one edge to fit the depth of the lip of the window sill, bolt the part in place. Leave questions or comments, I will respond to questions.

The humans have redeemed themselves at last with this purchase. I have no use for fuzzy vermin-shaped or jingly toys that insult my superior intellect. After years of being sorely misunderstood, at last a purchase that suits my interests. You see, birds and squirrels are my passion, namely watching them and wiggling my butt as I do so. However, the new abode the humans relocated me to has no windows with adequate sitting space. Thus the humans purchased this "Kitty Sill" to provide me with the opportunity to watch lesser beasts from my perch. And in this purpose this product has not failed me. I can spend hours comfortably watching the neighborhood animals and chattering at them to make sure they understand who is in charge around here. It is also an exceptional spot for napping as the foam padding and fleece cover are quite comfortable. The provided screws were very much a necessity as I am a rather portly gentleman at 18 lbs and a few velcro strips would simply not be up to snuff, but installation was simple even for the feeble-minded humans. I am generally very pleased. Perhaps I won't destroy the humans after all. Hector the Cat, dictated but not read

This is excellent for big cats. My Enid is over 3ft long and nearly 20 lbs. She fits comfortably. I did have to bolt it to the sill, but it's easy to do and does not budge. The heat provides a subtle warmth that leaves them basking all day. At first she didn't use it, but I think it was because it was below freezing and the window was cold. Now she lives on it. If I got tired of their cat towers cluttering up everything, I'd buy more of these.
