I usually use Mobil 1 Euro Spec formula. I’m trying this Castrol for the first time because I’ve heard good things about it. Audi turbo and supercharged versions tend to drink a bit of oil so it’s good to have around. I generally top it off a few times a year.

Perfect Euro-Spec oil. Much better than Mobile1!
A really good oil for euro-spec vehicles (Audi,VW,Porsche, ETC). If you are having issues with excessive engine noise that gets louder as get closer to needing an oil change, give this a try. I have found that it works much better in my 2006 Audi A3 than the 0w-40 Mobile1. Glad I finally switched over to Castrol. -Upgrayedd

This IS PAO based and true synthetic oil!
Whilst some have said that mobil 1 0w-40 is GTL (gas to liquid) it is not. At least not yet. They use some other temporary measure until their GTL gets going (like shell / Pennzoil) and is grp 3+. GTL USES A FISCHER Tropsch Method which technically is how polyalphaolefins are made (grp iv). But GTL is its own like grp vi or something. (I made that up.) Now i have used this "euro" Castrol dive the early 2000's whwn it was 0w-30 and green. We thought it was cool but were too dumb to know the green wqs a leak detection dye, rofl. Anyway that have way to what we in America get known as 0w-40 edge blah blah and its made in Germany still. But my chipped volvo 2.5T ate it like water. Could t believe it until i looked its cas#'s up and found it to be mostly grp iii and some form ofup to 50% PAO. We also get a usa made 5w-40 that used to be Belgium made like this is now. If one looks this 0w-40 is NOT destined for america! Its belgium made and the cas#'s show it as almost 75% or more PAO. THIS IS the REAL stuff. There now i have blown the lid. Oh well runs out ill go to Toal qyartz 9000 but not saying type as one in particular is the only one that is PAO or GTL.

The right oil for BMW engines
The only oil I use on my BMW 330i. I'm the sole owner of a 2002 BMW 330i with over 223,000 miles and counting (the picture shows kilometers) . My car runs smooth and strong like the first day and the engine has never been opened or repaired other than normal maintentance and cover and pan gaskets. I never had done oil changes often than the onboard maintentace computer indicates and never used another oil than this and castrol 0w-30 european formula. This oil meets the BMW Long Life 01 spec and is the right oil for extended oil change intervals. If you want to keep your bmw engine in good condition look no further.

Amazing stout Euro oil - better than Mobil 1
For the price Castrol EDGE 0W-40 sells for, it is the most cost-effective oil available. I'm an oil snob and insist on using the highest quality PAO (poly-alpha-olefin, group IV) engine oils in my BMW and Mercedes. The specs of this oil exceed Mobil 1 0w-40 oil (which an inferior gas-to-liquid group III base oil), and there is no situation in which you cannot use this oil over Mobil 1. It has all the Euro certifications including BMW Longlife which Mobil 1 no longer carries. The price of this oil jumps around on Amazon but it is amazing that you can usually get it for less than inferior oils. After having six of these sitting in my shopping cart for a while, the price suddenly dropped to a crazy 22 dollars per 5 quarts, and I had to buy as many as Amazon would let me to stock my shelf. Castrol Edge 0W-40 is made in Europe and meets Euro specs for "full synthetic" which is stricter than American standards. It provides absolutely stunning performance (HTHS 3.7 cP at 150C) for high performance European engines and is every bit the equal of the highest quality oils such as Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech. Only Redline is better. Buy it and preserve that beautiful German engine at rock bottom pricing.

Great oil.
Good oil as good as Mobil-1 or better. I used this on my 2 Mercedes GLK350 and SL65 and the engine has no noise. The Mobil-1 rendered the engine a bit noisy when you listen to it. There was a slight valve tapping. with this Castrol oil there's no tap. I also recommend you stick to the MANN oil filters. They're the original for Mercedes.

Better Running Engine and Long Drain Capable
There were three major reasons I chose this oil. First it is robust. It has to be. It has MB-Approval 229.5 and this means it can be drained in typical European fashion which is up to 32,000 miles or 3 years, when the engine, gas or diesel, is setup properly for it and the driving conditions are at their most favorable. Second, it has has a favorable price point in the 5 quart size. Thirdly, it is just as capable of longer drain intervals whether used in a gas or diesel engine, provided the engine is set up for it. My engines, one gas and one diesel, are not set up with oil condition monitoring so I will be guided by good judgement and lab results as to change interval. After I put it in the diesel two unexpected benefits became obvious. The engine, a Mercedes Benz 3.0 turbo diesel, ran much more quietly. By this I mean mechanical noises. Combustion noise in that engine, as heard from inside the car is modest at idle and drops too low to notice just above idle. But to not hear engine mechanical sounds from inside car at all rpm's and loads, immediately following the oil change and staying this way in the weeks to follow, is very impressive. The other benefit is a noticeably smoother idle. I have been doing my own oil changes for just over 40 years and this oil is the best one yet.

Tried this as recommended by Castrol website for VW 2
Used the 5w40 lubromoli and Castrol 5w40. Tried this as recommended by Castrol website for VW 2.0 turbos. I change oil every 7-8K not 10K as I usually have to add oil and its very dirty. Have K&M airfilter so I don't want to go past 7K. Engine quieter

it really works at higher temp operating condition or hard core driving.
very good. BUT!!!! BUT!!!!! It looks like this is just another version of Edge with different viscosity. higher viscosity does not always mean better protection. sometimes thinker oil with good additive formula protects better. Royal Purple is thinner than many oils but Royal Purple's performance makes those oils look trash. I found this one has less life than Edge Extended Performance. ET Performance was quite until 2800, and I noticed a slight different after 2800 miles. this one I notice different engine sound and vibration at 2000 miles. I am very sensitive and I check noise level with a sound meter. I always use Royal Purple filter no matter what. and Edge Extended Performance is cheaper too!

Works great in my BMW 128i
I was looking for the 5w30 European formula but the only one I found on Amazon was this one. So I am using this oil in my BMW 128i and I love it. The car runs very smooth.
